My favorite TV shows

I used to watch movies on much more frequent basis but the quality of television has been so good lately that I find myself sifting through my dvr on a Saturday night instead of going to the theater. The production values are so much better than they were 10 or 20 years ago. Cable networks like HBO and Showtime have lifted the bar and produced some of the best television that Ive see in quite a while. Dexter, the show about a serial killer who only kills bad guys, is probably one of the most unique shows out there. I definitely recommend it. Although I'm not a fan of the Twilight series, another great show is True Blood. The ensemble cast is one of the best on TV. Although if you are squeamish then that might not be the show for you...lots of blood. I love Criminal Minds on CBS, even though I liked it better when Mandy Patinkon was on it. I have been trying to find some new dramas to watch now that Lost and 24 have ended their runs. I have watched 3 episodes of the Event and to be honest I kinda like it. It has some potential to fill that sci fi void that was left by Lost. I tried to watch that Chase show with the female US Marshall but i just can't stand shows that beat you over the head with "she is the toughest US Marshall and nothing will get in Annie's way"...ok I get it she is tough...please stop reinforcing that fact every 5 minutes of the show. She wouldn't last 5 minutes with Jack Bauer. Don't get me wrong I'm all for a badass chick, some of my favorite movies of all time have strong female characters but impress me with action not just saying it over and over. Reality shows have grown old with me....I still watch Hell's Kitchen and Big Brother but that's about it. My wife watches almost all of them. I end up watching a lot of them just because I have to cause she is. Wifeswap definitely has it's moments of hilarity. I love how they purposely find the two most opposite families to swap. My favorite family was a family of clowns who had a daughter and lived in a freaking garage. The funny thing is that the mom of the family was paying like 30k a year to go to a clown college while they slept in a cold garage. And then there's the Jersey Shore....wow...As much as I don't want to like that show....it's like a tractor beam pulling me in. What a group of douche bags! My personal favorite thing is when there is a montage of them getting ready for a night out...which is every night. What is the fascination with Snooki? She is the most annoying person on the planet and she looks like a troll....no offense...I'd have to say that comedies make up the majority of what I watch. Thursday is filled with amazing comedies such as 30rock, The office, and Community on NBC and now they have moved Big Bang Theory to Thursday. I watch all of those religiously. ABC has put together a pretty good Wed. Night with The Middle, Cougar Town, and my favorite comedy on TV ...Modern Family.......I'm actually suurprised that like these Wed night shows as mich as I do. The Middle was something my wife watched and I have slowly became a fan. I would have never thought I would have liked Cougar Town when it came out last year but everyone in the cast makes me laugh. I hated friends but Courney Cox is pretty funny in this(although she is the least funny of the cast)...I tried to make it through the new William Shatner show but it is just unbearable....such a shame because he was so great in Boston Legal but this is one of those corny laugh track shows. The future is bright too with Boardwalk Empire on HBO (ive seen the first two episodes and it's great so far) and the new AMC zombie show walking dead that comes out later this month.
