Zach Snyder and Christopher Nolan making Superman
Superman is one of top pop culture icons of all time. I have been a huge fan of Supes all of my life. The Richard Donner Superman was a classic and Superman II is one of my favorite 3 comic movies of all time. Yeah the special effects might make you cringe a little watching it now but no one embodied Superman more that the late Christopher Reeve. The music was amazing and still to this day gives me goosebumps hearing it. The problem is that with all of the comic movies that have come out lately, Superman seems to be lost in the shuffle. Bryan Singer tried to bring Superman back to the big screen but he let his fandom of the original movies cloud his judgement in creating an up to date version. Superman returns was not a bad movie but with the technology that exists now in movies people want to see Superman actually fight someone. The real estate broker gone mad version of Lex Luthor was fun in the originals but today's movie watcher wants to see Superman tested. Arguably Superman is the most popular comic character of all time and for some reason we can't get a successful film made.....then it happened....Christopher Nolan has signed on to produce the next Superman movie. Nolan who made the hugely successful Dark Knight is going to try and save the Superman franchise. The Dark Knight was hands down the best comic movie that was ever made. The acting, the story, and the pacing of his Batman movies was dead on and hopefully he will be just as tactful in creating a new Superman franchise. He has already taken a unique step in hiring 300 director Zach Snyder to direct the next film. This is a very intriguing choice of directors. There is one thing for sure with Snyder as the director....the movie will LOOK amazing. I just hope they give Superman a villain that is worthy of the character. Someone that will test Superman, kick his ass a little. Ultimately the most important thing will probably be the casting. We don't necessarily need big name actors to play the big roles but we need good ones. No Justin Beiber as Jimmy Olson. I truly believe if they screw up this Superman movie, that might be it for Supes on the big screen for a while. Take your time Chris and make it right.
